The Moreton Bay Suns
"Feel the Heat"

At the Moreton Bay Suns, basketball is more than just a game — it’s a community.

We’re here to give kids, teens, and adults of all ages and abilities a place to play, learn, and grow both on and off the court.

As the officially affiliated Basketball Queensland and Basketball Australia association in the Moreton Bay region, we offer real pathways — from learning the basics through Aussie Hoops, to competing in elite junior and senior state competitions, and even stepping into coaching, refereeing, or score bench roles.

Our programs are built for everyone:

  • Young players discovering the sport for the first time

  • Families looking for a fun, safe, and social club

  • Athletes chasing their dreams at the highest level

  • Volunteers and officials developing valuable life and career skills

With accredited coaches, referees, and support staff, we make sure every player has the chance to improve, belong, and succeed. Whether you’re here for fun, fitness, friendships, or future opportunities — there’s a place for you at the Suns.

At the Suns, we’re not just building better players — we’re building stronger people and a stronger community.

Meet the Team Behind the Scenes

A strong board plays an important role in guiding the direction, values, and long-term success of an organisation. It helps ensure that decisions are made with care, transparency, and the best interests of the community in mind.

From supporting programs and planning for the future to maintaining good governance, the board works behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly and sustainably.

Our board is made up entirely of volunteers who generously give their time, skills, and passion to support Moreton Bay Basketball and the families involved. If you see us around, don’t hesitate to say hi — we’re always happy to connect with our community!

Our Amazing Coordinators

Our coordinators are the heart of our day-to-day programs, bringing energy, organisation, and care to everything they do. They work closely with players, families, and coaches to ensure sessions run smoothly and that every child feels supported, included, and encouraged to do their best. From planning activities to answering questions and creating a welcoming environment, our coordinators play a key role in delivering positive experiences for everyone involved. Their dedication helps create a space where children can learn, grow, and most importantly, enjoy being part of our basketball community.

Our Staff Members

Our staff members play a vital role in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Our Competitions Manager works tirelessly to organise and oversee our competitions, ensuring schedules, teams, and game days come together seamlessly for players and families to enjoy. Alongside this, our Office/Administration provides essential support, managing enquiries and the many day-to-day tasks that keep the organisation operating efficiently.

Branch Managers

Our Branch Managers are an important connection between our organisation and the community, serving as the first point of contact for any club-related questions, concerns, or suggestions. They are approachable, supportive, and committed to ensuring every member feels heard and valued. Whether it’s helping resolve an issue, passing on feedback, or guiding families in the right direction, our Branch Managers play a key role in maintaining a positive and responsive environment across all areas of our club.

Our Brilliant Officials

Our officials are essential to everything we do. Without their time, effort, and commitment, we simply couldn’t run games or provide the quality experiences our players deserve. They help create a safe, fair, and structured environment where children can learn the game, develop their skills, and grow in confidence. Beyond just officiating, they play an important role in teaching respect, understanding the rules, and supporting the development of the next generation of players. We are incredibly grateful for the vital role they play in our basketball community.
